New Michael Jordan North Carolina basketball cards: highest value of all time?

michael-jordan

The MSN is releasing a new Michael Jordan University of North Carolina Master Collection Set. They claim it will be the highest valued basketball
card set of all time. And of course, we should trust them because they’re not biased at all, right. I mean they’re telling us the truth, correct? No hyperbole here about the Chicago Bulls guard who is in fact the greatest NBA player of all time. No, none at all.

The Upper Deck staff believes individual sets may sell for as much as 5 Gs. And they wouldn’t lie to us, right? I myself have no idea what they’re worth as I stopped collecting sports cards when I was 16. I then moved on to cars and girls.  (Not that I was successful with either endeavor, I just moved on)

The company unveiled the set at the 2013 Las Vegas Industry Summit with four hard-signed Michael Jordan autograph cards, one Michael Jordan logo patch card set, one 1982 National Championship ring and one super premium card from Michael Jordan.

Tar Heels Kendall Marshall: among best point guards in draft? (Combine Video)

kendall-marshall

The North Carolina Tar Heels have four players who will be drafted by the NBA on June 28th: Harrison Barnes, Tyler Zeller, John Henson, and their point guard Kendall Marshall. All were in Chicago yesterday for the pre-draft camp. Media sessions are part of the agenda. When Marshall, one of the best point guards available in a kind of weak class for that position, talked to reporters, you can guess what one of the main topics of discussion was.

How’s his health? How’s the wrist?

North Carolina Tar Heel trio (Barnes, Henson, Marshall) entering NBA Draft

kendall_marshall

The University said Thursday that Harrison Barnes, John Henson and Kendall Marshall will enter the 2012 NBA draft.

The school didn’t state whether the three sophomores planned to hire agents or not, or if they already had, in its press release announcing the departures, though it appears they’re in the draft to stay.

On the same day, Marshall won….

UNC point guard Kendall Marshall improving, Heels preparing without him

kendall_marshall

North Carolina Tar Heels Coach Roy Williams says Kendall Marshall’s status remains uncertain for the Midwest Regional semifinal against Ohio Friday night in St. Louis. He also added that the mean is practicing/preparing for the next round as if he wasn’t going to play.

Marshall fractured his wrist last weekend in the win over Creighton, although he stayed in the game after suffering the injury.

“You’ve got me between a rock and a hard place,” Williams said today. “I cannot give you any answers. I’ve given everybody all the answers I can give because I’ve said honestly, I do not know.”

North Carolina point guard Kendall Marshall has broken wrist

kendall_marshall

North Carolina is a favorite in many of your brackets. Your bracket may have just taken a major hit as the Tar Heels suffered another set back today, as their floor general Kendall Marshall suffered a severe fracture to his right wrist. Just as they were getting John Henson back and healthy from a wrist sprain.

Marshall suffered the injury in the Heels’ 87-73 win over Creighton today. But he stayed in the game after the injury, so that’s a good sign he might be available when they take on the Ohio/South Florida winner next week in the sweet sixteen in St Louis.

Or not?

Mich St. & North Carolina Playing on Aircraft Carrier that Buried bin Laden?

aircraft carrier

The famous college basketball game aboard an aircraft carrier, the first ever of its kind, is coming closer to actually happening. The Michigan State Spartans will supposedly play the North Carolina Tar Heels on the deck of the USS Carl Vinson  in San Diego Harbor on Veterans Day,  November 11th.

Here’s the kicker, the USS Carl Vinson is the carrier that Osama Bin Laden’s body was flown to for the terrorist’s burial at sea after he was killed by US Navy Seals on May 1st.

VCU: The Journey to the Unthinkable

The NCAA tournament is known to have upsets and madness, but nothing like this. After VCU’s upset win over the last remaining #1 seed Kansas, practically everyone’s bracket is busted. And no one believed that this team from Richmond, Virginia could do the unthinkable and get to college basektball’s Final Four. Why? Because no one believed they even deserved to be here.  So the big question is, how did they get here?

Let me show you a bit of a timeline:

Tyler Hansbrough Becoming Go-To Guy for Indiana Pacers?

Some guys really do play with chips on their shoulders.

That seems to be the case with Indiana Pacers forward Tyler Hansbrough, who arguably has been the team’s most reliable player in terms of production during a recent 1-8 skid that left Indiana hanging on for dear life in eighth place in the Eastern Conference.

Hansbrough’s current season averages of 10.5 points per game and 4.9 rebounds per game certainly aren’t indicative of how the former North Carolina standout has played recently. He recorded back-to-back career-high scoring nights in a home-and-home sweep of the New York Knicks, posting 29 points Sunday at Madison Square Garden and one-upping that tally with the first 30-point game of his pro career Tuesday at Conseco Fieldhouse.

Surprised? Those who follow the Pacers regularly shouldn’t be.
