It took a season longer than anticipated but the Miami Heat reached the top of the mountain last season winning the NBA Championship and getting the insanely large monkey off LeBron James’ back.  Management didn’t just sit back and rest on their laurels this off-season, making a few minor but key moves to help the Heat’s chances of repeating.

With a move across the Hudson, new arena and logo, and remade roster; the now Brooklyn Nets’ much anticipated makeover is complete.  With all the money they spent this off-season, the team will undoubtedly be one of the most improved teams in the NBA but will it be enough for the franchise to compete for the Eastern Conference title?

Since the Chicago Bulls are without Derrick Rose, the Indiana Pacers become the new team to beat in the Central Division.  Indy made a major leap last season but do they have enough to reach the next level in the Eastern Conference?

His Adidas commercial portrays the scene pretty darn accurately as all of Chicago went silent when Derrick Rose clutched his knee in the first game of the Bulls’ opening round playoff series against the 76ers with the worst coming true; a torn ACL.  With Rose’s return questionable for this season, the Bulls must simply survive in hopes that their superstar can get back on the floor before the postseason begins.

Dwight Howard had his wish granted and was freed from the Orlando Magic.  As a result, the Magic become one of the worst teams in the league as their post-Howard makeover will be quite painful.  (By the way, if you are keeping track at home I have the three worst teams in the Eastern Conference coming from the Southeast Division.)

The Washington Wizards training camp began with a sour taste as news came out that John Wall suffered a minor setback to his knee injury and could miss the first month of the regular season.  That is not the start that a franchise which has suffered through four straight brutally bad years was hoping to hear as they try to turn the corner and inch towards becoming a playoff contender.

Is Time Running Out on the San Antonio Spurs?

San Antonio Spurs

The San Antonio Spurs dynasty just continues to chug along.  However, it appears as if the train seems to be run losing fuel.  Their nucleus of Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobli, and Tony Parker is starting to get up their age but if that core is healthy during the post-season, the Spurs are more than capable of once again making a run in the NBA Western Conference.
