The Sports Bank will be counting down to the opening tip of the 2012-13 NBA season with team by team previews starting with the worst and working our way to the title contenders.  There is no lockout this time around so let’s get going.

Year two of the post-LeBron James makeover in Cleveland is underway.  Led by reigning NBA Rookie of the Year, Kyrie Irving, the future is getting brighter for the Cavs but they are still a couple of seasons away from being a legitimate playoff contender.

Atlanta Hawks Could Take Step Back

I just do not have a good feeling about the Atlanta Hawks this season.  It stems from sitting baseline while covering game six of their first round playoff series in Milwaukee last year and disliking the chemistry and make-up of this team.  Of course a new coach could improve their attitude and I will likely be way off as the team once again surpasses the 50-win total.  But if I am right… I will definitely tell you, “I told you so.”

Are the Knicks a Playoff Team This Season?

The New York basketball revolution has begun.  It did not receive the immediate boost this off-season as LeBron, Wade, and Bosh chose to join forces in South Beach rather than the Big Apple.  Still, the signing of Amare Stoudemire is the first piece to the puzzle for the Knicks to regain respectability in the NBA and compete for an Eastern Conference playoff spot.
