White Sox to Recall 2010 Top Draft Pick Chris Sale from AAA

With a turf toe injury to reliever LHP Eric Threets, and few better options to assume a left-handed specialist role in the bullpen, the first place Chicago White Sox will call upon LHP Chris Sale, their top pick from this year’s amateur draft for assistance.

Will the move be permanent or just cup of coffee for the young hurler?  Will he head back to the minors quickly? As GM Kenny Williams said on a recent episode of MLB network’s The Club, “he will not hesitate to make a move that he thinks will help his team improve.”

After the draft, he told Sale that “he envisions him making the majors quickly.”

Complete Guide to Chicago White Sox Trade Deadline Rumors

kenny_williams

As the July 31st Major League Trade Deadline approaches, The Chicago White Sox could be actively working the phone lines in search of both pitching and hitting assistance.  In the second episode of MLB network’s “The Club” which aired yesterday, GM Kenny Williams indicated he’s used to being a buyer, not a seller.

While this interview was conducted in May when it looked like the Sox would trade both Paul Konerko and A.J. Pierzynski, it could very well be the mindset of the 1st place Sox GM this week.  Who is realistically available for the Sox to acquire, without costing them their future?  With no margin for error and a one game lead over the Minnesota Twins, is inaction an option?  Let’s break it all down.

Sox fans, watch MLB Network “The Club” Tonight!

To see what Sox second baseman Gordon Beckham had to say about The Club, and if he’ll watch it or not, check out my exclusive with him here

I’ve always said that Chicago White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen would make the best reality star a television producer could ever imagine; mostly because everyday he already does what pretty much every reality “star” does- exaggerate his behavior for the cameras. It’s called the Hawthorne Effect- people change who they really are when they know they’re being watched. And that’s a vital part of Ozzie’s charm and charisma.

After he’s done addressing the media 2.5 hours before the start of each game in the dugout, the cameras and microphones are turned off, and then the fun REALLY begins: the true genius of Ozzie’s personality comes out.

Don’t believe me? Well, remember his extending his arms out wide gesture (to say hey, send the fat guy in to pitch) when signalling to the pen for closer Bobby Jenks? That hilariously over-the-top act happened in the World Series, when the lights were the brightest. And now MLB Network is giving him another stage.

Gordon Beckham isn’t Excited about watching MLB Network’s Reality Series

gordon_beckham

Sunday night at 9ET, MLB Network will premiere it’s long awaited reality series “The Club” centering around the Chicago White Sox, most specifically Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf, GM Kenny Williams and Manager Ozzie Guillen. I can’t wait to see how this series, narrated by Chicago native Michael Clarke Duncan, will highlight the interactions of these three strong personalities. It’s finally here- almost!

But White Sox second baseman Gordon Beckham doesn’t have any intentions of watching the show. Neither do his teammates according to him.
