Trey Burke Considering NBA
When Michigan fell to 13-seeded Ohio in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday, its quest for its first Sweet 16 appearance since 1994 was definitively lost, but the Wolverines may be on the verge of suffering an even bigger loss in the near future. Freshman point guard Trey Burke, who led the Wolverines in scoring (14.8 ppg) and assists (4.6 apg), is considering … [Read more...] about Trey Burke Considering NBA
Michigan on Upset Alert Against 13-Seed Ohio
The Wolverines just completed their most impressive regular season since coach John Beilein arrived in Ann Arbor in 2007, a campaign that included 24 wins, 13 of those in conference, and their first Big Ten Championship since the 1985-1896 season--even if they only technically own 1/3 of that crown. Those impressive numbers awarded the Wolverines a four-seed in this year's … [Read more...] about Michigan on Upset Alert Against 13-Seed Ohio
Michigan’s Trey Burke making a case as Big Ten’s best player
Just four days ago, the Big Ten announced that its freshman of the year award was being given to two separate players—Indiana’s Cody Zeller took home the coaches award and Michigan’s Trey Burke got the media vote. Purdue Deals Michigan its First Home Loss of the Season
When Purdue coach Matt Painter dismissed junior Kelsey Barlow from the team last Friday due to an altercation at a bar, senior Ryne Smith called it "addition by subtraction." That statement may have been validated Saturday night, as the Boilermakers went into Crisler Arena and thoroughly dominated the Wolverines, 75-61, sullying their pristine 15-0 home mark in the … [Read more...] about Purdue Deals Michigan its First Home Loss of the Season
Northwestern damages NCAA Tournament chances in losing to Michigan
When Northwestern beat Minnesota on Saturday, the Wildcats were able to pull out the win with strong three-point shooting and ball security, despite a bad rebounding ratio. Tuesday night against Michigan, the Cats rebounded well, but turned the ball over 17 times and shot just 18.8 percent from beyond the arc. The end result, a 67-55 loss, was the opposite of the Minnesota … [Read more...] about Northwestern damages NCAA Tournament chances in losing to Michigan
Wolverines Land Top Recruiting Class in Big 10; Top 10 Nationally
The Wolverines Sugar Bowl win over Virginia Tech is reason for optimism, especially considering that it came in the first year of what many U of M fans hope is a long and illustrious tenure for head coach Brady Hoke. But it would be premature to say that Michigan is now ready to compete for national championships on a yearly basis. (guest post from Christopher Johnson, Big … [Read more...] about Wolverines Land Top Recruiting Class in Big 10; Top 10 Nationally
Wolverines Really Didn’t Deserve BCS Bowl Win, or Bid in the first Place
It was kind of ridiculous that both the ACC and the Big Ten got two BCS bids this year when each conference only deserved one. Of course, that's nothing compared to #23 West Virginia getting an Orange Bowl bid when the Big East clearly didn't deserve it's automatic qualifier this year; or last year for that matter. The Michigan Wolverines didn't deserve to be in New Orleans … [Read more...] about Wolverines Really Didn’t Deserve BCS Bowl Win, or Bid in the first Place
