Can LeBron James Reach The G.O.A.T Level?

Lebron James Miami Heat Fans Girl Kiss

At the age of 28, LeBron James has now achieved what he ever wanted. He is a two-time NBA champion, a four-time regular season MVP and a two-time Olympic Gold medalist. What could a player like LeBron want more, now that he is in the top of the world?

BEST AND MOST DOMINANT BASKETBALL PLAYER(S) IN 1950’S

Bob Pettit

If you ask a lot of people who he or she thinks is the greatest basketball player of all time, I bet most people would say Michael Jordan. Some might say Wilt Chamberlain. Some might say Magic Johnson. Unique skill-sets are what set players apart from one another. LeBron James was supposed to the “next” MJ coming out of high school.

But we soon found out that his skill-set resembled Magic Johnson’s more than MJ’s. I would say that Kobe Bryant will be the closest thing to Jordan that we will ever see in the NBA.

Let the rivalry begin: Can Lebron-Durant compare to Bird-Magic?

LeBron James and Kevin Durant

Since LeBron James took his talents to South Beach and Kevin Durant proved himself as the NBA’s most dangerous offensive weapon, we’ve wanted nothing more than the inevitable NBA Finals matchup pitting these two against each other.  Now that it’s finally here, don’t expect this to be a one-time confrontation.  In reality, this LeBron v. Durant championship showdown—a preview of more Finals matchups to come, no doubt—should be the beginning of a storied NBA rivalry, one that could ultimately evoke memories of the Bird-Magic duels of the 80s. NBA Finals: Heat v. Thunder Preview

This season reminds me of the fireworks on the 4th of July. It starts off slow, with some big explosions here and there. Gradually it speeds up, a few more big explosions. About two-thirds of the way through, you start to big explosions, until the final salvo where they hit with 50, 75, or 100 fireworks going off in a span of one minute. This is the NBA’s final salvo. And boy, oh boy we are in for a doozie!  [Read more…]

Michigan State 2012 season recap, 2013 look ahead

msu-logo

As the first #1 seed to bow out of the NCAA tournament, the Michigan State Spartans can only look at all the improvements they made this season and see success.

The team finished with the number one SOS, 12 top-50 RPI wins, 16 top-100 RPI wins and 12 road/neutral wins in the nation’s top conference. They went from being unranked at the beginning of the season to earning a top seed in the post-season—if that’s not the true mark of improvement, then what is? [Read more…]

Top 5 NBA inside-outside combinations of our generation

malone-and-stockton

Terms like “the modern era” and “a generation” are very gray by definition. Charcoal level gray.

The NBA as we know it today pretty much began in 1984. It was the year of that transcendent draft class, and the time when David Stern really first asserted his dictatorial power.

It’s also when the game started to go mainstream and the league transformed itself into the marketing/branding juggernaut it is today. Therefore, it’s the perfect year to start when compiling my list of the top inside-outside combinations in NBA history.

Well this generation’s NBA, the “Modern NBA.”

Perhaps someday we’ll do this list again and add the Los Angeles Clippers Chris Paul and Blake Griffin to it?

Magic Johnson Part of Group Trying to Buy L.A. Dodgers

Magic_Johnson

So who’s going to step in and rescue the once proud MLB franchise known as the Los Angeles Dodgers? In the words of ’70s wuss rockers Pilot….”oh ho ho it’s magic. You know! Never believe it’s not so.”

That’s right, Earvin “Magic” Johnson is part of a “dream team” potential ownership group with goals of purchasing/rehabbing the troubled franchise driven into bankruptcy by Frank McCourt, partially because of McCourt’s bitter (is there really any other kind?) divorce.

Magic tweeted hours ago:

Thrilled to announce that I’ve partnered w/ Mark Walter & Stan Kasten to form Guggenheim Baseball Mgmt in pursuit of purchasing the Dodgers!

All-Time Big Ten Basketball Team: Magic, Isaiah and More

The ex-husband of Kim Kardashian, Kris Humphries, was successful at the University of Minnesota but his team struggled. The Gophers finished 12–18, with a 3–13 record in the Big Ten during Humphries’ lone season. The team had a .500 record before his arrival and finished with a 10–6 conference record in the season after he left.

Before “Humpdasian,” Kris was a great college basketball player however the Gophers did not win. With the start of college basket season quickly approaching, (and to quote Kim in her divorce statement) “after careful consideration,” our guest contributor West Lamy has decided Kris will not make the cut for his all-time Big Ten basketball team. Not that anyone ever actually thought he would even be in the conversation, but we figured since the whole world was obsessed with his divorce that we should give im a mention.

Here’s the conference’s all-time starting five.

Bulls vs. Pacers: Game 3 Preview is as obvious as it should be

luvabulls dancers

When the ping-pong balls came up all things Chicago Bulls on that fateful night in 2008, the next month was filled with pundits prognosticating on the proper thing to do.

When John Paxson made his decision, many lauded the choice.

We knew Derrick Rose was going to be good. We knew he would be a solid addition to a team looking for an identity. However, no one can claim that he or she saw this coming. No one.
