Derrick Rose MVP? ESPN Expert Panel Overwhelmingly Approves

All the “Rose should be MVP” columns have been writtten. As have all the “Rose isn’t the MVP” backlash columns. That discussion is pretty much over, as the time for that award announcement draws near.

The Mothership, the Evil Empire if you will, is overwhelmingly in support of the Chicago Bulls Derrick Rose as the NBA MVP award recipient. Check out the ESPN basketball panel voting. Rose took home 27/35 votes.

Of course, ESPNChicago Bulls reporter Nick Friedell voted for Rose. You gotta get the home cooking. So where did the other 8 votes go?

Comparing NBA MVP Candidates to the 2011 Best Picture Nominees

The NBA season is over two thirds complete, so what better way to look at MVP candidates than to parallel them with my ranking of the Best Picture nominees for this Sunday’s Academy Awards.

With my Minnesota Timberwolves playing as poorly as they have this season, I’ve been able to catch plenty of movies this winter.

Will LeBron, Wade, Bosh Live Up to Hype?

The most anticipated NBA season in decades tips off tonight when the Eastern Conference Champion Boston Celtics take on the evil empire that most expect to dethrone the reining champs.  All the talk in the off-season centered on “The Decision” and tonight we get our first look at LeBron, Wade, Bosh, and NBA’s public enemy number one; the Miami Heat.  As Terrell Owens once said, “get your popcorn ready.”

The Call Outs

Dwight Howard, MVP? Ummm, No.

Yes, you read that headline correctly, the Call Outs are back! The triumphant return of my column could not have come at a better time. While the Call Outs were on vacation there were more than a few major injustices that will, luckily for them, go unmentioned. But the silence can go on no longer. The latest event of sports idiocy was even something we all saw coming, yet when it actually happened, we were even more as shocked and appalled than we anticipated we would be. Still there were 7 idiots who voted for someone OTHER than LeBron James as the 2009-10 NBA MVP. That leads off our list after the jump.
