Kevin Love’s Record Double-Double Streak Comes To An End

Well that was fun.

On Sunday night Kevin Love’s record setting 53 consecutive games with a double-double streak ended in the Minnesota Timberwolves 100-77 loss at Golden State.

In the game Love scored only six points while collecting 12 rebounds.

Love’s streak started back on November 22 against Oklahoma City when Love tallied 24 points and 17 rebounds. [Read more…]

Kevin Love Passes Moses Malone With 52nd Consecutive Double-Double

The Minnesota Timberwolves’ Kevin Love broke Moses Malone’s 31-year record by surpassing his mark of 51 straight double-doubles Wednesday night against the Indiana Pacers.

Love notched his 52 consecutive double-double in the second quarter Wednesday night.

While the Wolves as a team have struggled mightily throughout the year, Love’s streak has made the Wolves semi-relevant through a season that has had more downs than ups.

Quick hits from Tuesday’s 108-99 loss at Golden State:

Timberwolves blew another double-digit lead; led by 11 in the first half.

Monta Ellis is a stud. 34 points on 13 of 24 shooting. He also had 6 assists.

The Timberwolves are obviously missing an electric player of the likes of Monta Ellis.

Timberwolves continue to struggle to get out to shooters. Golden State was 11 for 22 from deep.

Kevin Love had 13 points and 14 rebounds for his 11th consecutive double double. He did have a poor night from the field shooting 6 for 18.

The Minnesota Timberwolvesk wrapped up their 2010 pre-season with a 6-2 record. Most bandwagon Wolves fans think this is far from carrying any meaning, and who can blame them? They’re coming off a 2009-10 campaign in which only one team (New Jersey Nets, 12-70) had a worse record than their 15-67 mark. It’s natural to put little faith in a solid pre-season.

It would be quite the uphill battle to try and convince Wolves nation that it will carry over into significant regular season improvements. Trying to preach optimism doesn’t go over well to a fan base whose former face of the franchise is now with division rival Utah, and budding superstar is still in Spain.
