The discussion about the Defensive Player of the Year award has heated up since the All-Star break. It has changed a bit, too. After LeBron James stated that he should be the one to win the award this season, we have also seen Joakim Noah emerging a strong candidate. The Frenchman center has dramatically improved his performance during the second half of the season, especially on the defensive end of the floor. He is one of the biggest factors for the Chicago Bulls this season. Of course, Roy Hibbert still remains one of the top favorites for the title this season, as he has been playing extremely well on defense throughout the season. Bob Sanders’ Legacy with Indianapolis Colts

I now have had a few days to think about how Bob Sanders, who on Friday was released by the Indianapolis Colts after seven seasons with the team, will be remembered by those invested in the Indianapolis-based franchise.

The safety had numerous moments of brilliance during those seven years, including a dynamic run to victory in Super Bowl XLI and being named the Associated Press’ Defensive Player of the Year for the 2007 season.

Unfortunately for Sanders and the Colts, however, those brilliant moments were few and far between.
