Mention of Danny Woodhead makes Joe Theismann, Deion Sanders lose it (Video)

Ah you gotta love Danny Woodhead of the New England Patriots; or at least his name. Misprouncing the surname of the tailback who looks a lot like someone who works at Medieval Times caused the NFL Network team, especially Deion $anders to literally lose it during a show taping.

Former Washington Redskins and Notre Dame legend Joe Theismann made a mildly funny malapropism that became epically hilarious once you see the reaction from it.

New England Patriots Skill Position Guys: Extremely White

rob gronkowski_bibi jones

The New England Patriots and Duke Blue Devils have a lot in common- east coast powerhouse, dynastic programs. Both are a very popular/polarizing brand; best embodied by their Mt. Rushmore level Coach (Bill Belichick and Mike Krzyzewski) who inspires both admiration and hatred. They sit in similar pedestals in their respective worlds of college basketball and the NFL.

This year, the Pats have yet another trait in common with Duke: white players everywhere, in places you don’t often see Caucasians. If you’re a white, blue-chip hoops recruit, you’re most likely going to Duke. If you’re white and good, but not elite, you might be headed to Wisconsin, Butler or Notre Dame.

And in 2012-13, if you’re a white receiver or tailback, you might be a Patriot.

Week 6 Fantasy Football Rankings: QB/RB

It’s the second week of bye weeks, but this one likely hurts fantasy owners more than last week. The likes of Chris Johnson, Ryan Mathews and Philip Rivers will all be on your fantasy bench this week, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of quality options. There are a few runners who will impress this week and are still available on waiver wires, and a couple passers who you should keep your eye on. In today’s rankings, we’ll break down the top fantasy football quarterbacks and running backs.

Week 5 Fantasy Football Rankings: Bye weeks begin

Fantasy football is about more than assembling your favorite players on one team. This week, with six teams on a bye week, strategy element of the game begins to set in. While a week to rest might be good for the players, it’s certainly a headache for fantasy owners.

New England Patriots Find New Tailback in Stevan Ridley?

How much longer are the New England Patriots going to go with the Law Firm and Woodhead approach at tailback? Don’t get me wrong, it’s working for them, both BenJarvus Green-Ellis and Danny Woodhead are serviceable to solid, but I wonder if they’ll ever bring back a feature back mentality.

The last bulk carrier was Corey Dillon and that was over three years ago. Many draftniks thought they were going to take Trent Richardson’s predecessor in Alabama- Mark Ingram, but it didn’t happen. Instead Ingram went to the Miami Dolphins.

Week 4 Fantasy Football Rankings: Put up or shut up

We’re three weeks into the fantasy football season and the surprises just keep on coming. Cam Newton and Matthew Stafford are top-10 fantasy quarterbacks. Coe College alum Fred Jackson is the third best fantasy back. And how about Scott Chandler, who had one catch before this year, picking up four scores in the first three weeks. But much like business, it’s not what you did last week; it’s what are you going to do for me now. So let’s look into the crystal ball and find this weeks surprise, shall we?

Week 3 Fantasy Football Rankings: The Injury Bug Bites

It shouldn’t surprise any of us. In a game as violent as football, injuries are bound to happen. Top-5 pick Jamaal Charles is out for season. Miles Austin is out until October 16th. Let’s not even get started on Peyton Manning.  Much like their professional counterparts, fantasy owners need to find ways to fill the void left by their injured players. Included in this week’s rankings, I’ll list some guys that could step in for your injured star this week.

Week 2 Fantasy Football Rankings: Building on a strong week

If we learned one thing about the NFL in week one: the lockout certainly did not slow down the offensive numbers.  A ridiculous 14 quarterbacks had more than 300 yards, four of which went over 400. 13 receivers topped 100 yards, including seven double-digit touchdown performances. Needless to say, fantasy teams weren’t suffering. Now it’s time to build on that success and dominate week two of the fantasy season.

Week 1 Fantasy Football Rankings: Football is Back!

We endured an offseason consisting of men in suits walking in and out of buildings. We endured a three-month stretch when the work “lockout” might as well have been preceded by a four-letter word. But courtrooms, politics, and league lawyers are now a thing of the past. Because ladies and gentleman, we’re finally here! The start of the NFL season is here!
