Dale Earnhardt Jr podcast launches on Monday


The 2013 NASCAR season is about to begin as Daytona 500 Speedweek. And a new season brings new digital entertainment with the Dale Earnhardt Jr podcast.

The Dale Earnhardt Jr podcast will be heard on Dirty Mo Radio, an online home for radio-style talk centrally themed around NASCAR’s 10-time most popular driver.  Dirty Mo Radio will be based at Earnhardt Jr.’s official site, DaleJr.com, but every Dale Earnhardt Jr podcast will also be available free-of-charge on common podcasting outlets such as iTunes.

Hendrick Motorsports documentary airing on SPEED Channel


Beyond 200: The Hendrick Motorsports Story, an exclusive SPEED special produced by Emmy® Award-winning NASCAR Productions, will air Sunday, Nov. 11 at 8 p.m. ET on SPEED.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. suffers concussion, not competing in Sprint Cup series


Dale Earnhardt Jr. will not compete in the upcoming NASCAR Sprint Cup Series events at Charlotte Motor Speedway and Kansas Speedway after being diagnosed with a concussion following the Oct. 7 race at Talladega, Ala.

NASCAR national media blitz in Chase across America


Ten different drivers embarked on a 10-city media blitz Tuesday as Day 2 of ‘Chase Across America’ kicked into high gear.

NASCAR’s second-annual cross-country media tour – in which the 12 Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers visit the 10 Chase track markets, New York City and Bristol, Conn. – featured events ranging from pep rallies to baseball games, and boat tours to firefighting lessons.

Following NASCAR Sprint Cup Media Day, special fan event

Following media day for the NASCAR kickoff of Chase for the cup is a special fan event- Contenders Live sponsored by Toyota and Sprint will allow local fans to interact directly with the final 12 Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Contenders at the House of Blues in Chicago at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 12th.  It’ll air on SPEEDTV on Thursday, September 13th at 7 p.m. You’ll hear answers to questions for NASCAR’s playoffs that you’ve never heard before from star drivers Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jeff Gordon, and more. Dale Earnhardt Jr. gets NASCAR video game cover


NASCAR fans have spoken, and Dale Earnhardt Jr. narrowly defeated Kasey Kahne in the final round of voting in the “Drive for the Cover” campaign. Earnhardt, the nine-time most popular driver, will adorn the cover of the upcoming NASCAR The Game™: Inside Line video game, scheduled to be released on Nov. 6.

NASCAR star Dale Earnhardt Jr. coming to Chicago


Dale Earnhardt Jr., winner of NASCAR’s NMPA Most Popular Driver Award for nine consecutive years, will join fans to kick off the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup.

Earnhardt Jr., who currently sits in second place in the NASCAR Sprint Cup standings, will appear in Chicagoland Speedway’s Walter Football.comfor a question-and-answer session with fans on Sunday, September 16 prior to the GEICO 400.

NASCAR “Eats Fresh” with the Subway 600 Saturday Night

Jared had better equip each driver with two footlongs for the 600km race at Phoenix International Raceway this Saturday—because we’re NIGHT RACIN’ boys.  It’s also the signal to 14 straight weeks of racing, no weekends off!

The picturesque mile-long, extra fat oval (more circle, less oval) is plopped right down into the mountains.  Phoenix hosts two races this season—the first this weekend and the second in mid-November when drivers in the Chase will race in anticipation of the final shootout at Homestead the following week.

There aren’t too many Saturday night races—those are usually designated for Nationwide Series races (which is on Friday this week).  And this year’s race here is different – there are 63 more laps (375 total) and it starts a bit earlier. So expect pit stops to be important and the track to get faster as night settles in and the temperatures drop. [Read more…]

Daytona 500: The Sprint to the Chase

It sounds like an oxymoron, but the Sprint Cup is only won after a grueling  nine month racing schedule–Sunday in, Sunday out–until the 12 top point scorers battle it out in The Chase.

For the last three seasons, Jimmie Johnson has driven 26-week marathons and then sprinted to the Championship. Many of the rule changes discussed in last week’s NASCAR season preview certainly seem to be crafted to slow Johnson down and even-out the racing field. However, he’s certainly a contender for this weekend’s crowning jewel–the World Series or Superbowl of racing–the Daytona 500.

The names of the men who have never visited Victory Lane at the Daytona 500 might surprise you.  Mark Martin is 0 for 25 but has secured the pole this year.  Bobby Labonte is 0 for 17. [Read more…]
