2012 NFL Draft – Top Defensive Lineman

Defensive End

1. Melvin Ingram, South Carolina (6-2, 264): One of the most versatile defensive lineman in the draft, Ingram could play in both the 3-4 as an OLB or speed DE, as well as play the traditional 4-3 defensive end. Ingram has pro-ready hand technique and frequently gets his man off balance.    Prediction: Top-15

LSU Honey Badger Video, App, Song Drinking Game

honey_badger

Watching the college football national title game Monday night, you might have noticed that Brent Musburger referred to LSU cornerback Tyrann Mathieu as “the Honey Badger” as much as possible.

And when I say “you might have noticed” I actually mean it was painfully obvious to anyone who watched even a nanosecond of the game. Was he trying to be hip? Did he not know the player’s actual name? Does he just love the nickname? Was he trying to kill by alcohol poisoning the people playing the “Musburger says Honey Badger” drinking game?

Or has a generation of mindless acronyms instead of original nicknames (A-Rod, D-Will, I-Rod etc.) made us all go bucknuts when we hear an actual nickname for an athlete?

Watch two Honey Badger videos after the jump. Both narrators are men with extremely homosexual sounding voices by the way.

For more on the actual player, and the story of how he got his nickname go here

Beware LSU Honey Badger Tyrann Mathieu, Physically and Psychologically

tyrann-mathieu

Funny thing about tonight’s college football national title game, the biggest star on one side, LSU, their Heisman Trophy finalist is actually a cornerback: Tyrann Mathieu.

Another funny thing about the game, he’s trying to get a psychological edge by looking up the names of mothers of Alabama football players for some trash talking on the field.

LSU’s Morris Claiborne Should be a Top 5 NFL Draft Pick

morris-claiborne

LSU is certainly becoming CBU these days. Louisiana State University is Corner Back U. Patrick Peterson left Baton Rouge early to become a two-phase NFL star with the Arizona Cardinals, and the Tigers didn’t miss a beat.

Morris Claiborne is looking like a top 5 NFL draft pick this year, and the Honey Badger Tyrann Mathieu will be a franchise player in a couple years.

Alabama Demolishes Florida, Puts Nation on Notice in Big Win

In what was supposed to be a showcase of two of the best defenses in the country, the Alabama Crimson Tide steamrolled the Florida Gators 38-10 on Saturday night in Gainesville. Trent Richardson racked up 181 rushing yards and scored twice, and Courtney Upshaw returned an intercepted John Brantley pass 45 yards for a touchdown as the Tide dealt the Gators a crushing defeat, especially on a day when the SEC East was right there for the taking.

#3 Alabama Crimson Tide vs. #23 Penn State Nittany Lions: Brutally Honest Game Preview

College football has really done a much better job of pre-conference scheduling these days. Last week we had two national title contenders squaring off in the Oregon Ducks vs. LSU Tigers, and another solid offering in the Boise State Broncos vs. the Georgia Bulldogs.  This week is significantly weaker, but if this is as bad as the slate gets- I’ll take it.

Because next week you have LSU in another marquee game, this time versus conference foe, the Mississippi State Bulldogs. And two top 5 teams in the Florida State Seminoles vs. the Oklahoma Sooners. Sprinkle in a few conference games here and there, and before you know it- it’s conference season already the next week.

This game is an oddity before it even begins- both have a QB controversy, despite both teams having one signal caller clearly out-performing the other in week one.

#1 Alabama Crimson Tide: College Football 77 in 77

Alabama basketball

Here it is- the cherry (fitting crimson colored) on the top of the massive college football sundae that was the 77 in 77. I honestly am amazed I survived this. 77 teams in 77 days, and I finish with the SEC powerhouse, Alabama Crimson Tide. The league has produced five straight national champions- I’m saying a sixth in 2011. Other experts believe in the Sooners, but I say Roll Tide.

They’re solid on the OL, WR, RB, DL, LB, DB, ST, K, P, RS- and we shall see now about QB. The defense and special teams will be stellar. If they find the right signal caller, they’ll be ballin’ like Spaulding.
