Rose, Bulls About to Elevate Another Level as Boozer Returns

It’s been a long time since the Chicago Bulls have entered December in a position as favorable as this. They’re in first place by a game over the surprising Indiana Pacers, their biggest threat to the division, the Milwaukee Bucks, have spent most of November east bound and down, and they actually finished the dreaded circus trip with a winning record of 4-3.

Usually, the circus road trip is like the set-up of a George Lopez joke: you just know complete failure in the task at hand is about to occur.

And on top of all these good vibes, the Bulls’ superstar, Derrick Rose is elevating his game to another level. This NBA season will only get better for Chicago as Carlos Boozer may return Wednesday night versus Orlando. With Booze now being served, Rose and company have that dynamic second option in place, and things are about to take off.

Is Derrick Rose the Next Deron Williams?

With the signing of three former members of the Utah Jazz, the Chicago Bulls earned the nickname “Utah Midwest” this summer. Bulls fans hope they don’t become “Utah Jazz East,” as in the Jazz of the Eastern Conference postseason because Utah’s recent playoff experience is not worth emulating.

You’ve heard the expression “NBA Hell?” Well, that’s exactly where Utah is- a place where the ceiling has been reached and every May just repeats itself like the movie “Groundhog Day.”

One aspect of the Jazz certainly worth emulating is the play of their point guard. In recent years, we’ve seen University of Illinois product Deron Williams evolve into the greatest ex-Illini in the professional ranks, and later the greatest overall point guard.

Can Derrick Rose make a similar leap? A couple of Williams’ former teammates believe so.

Wade and Bosh signing with Miami puts Bulls in Very Rough Spot

bulls

With the announcement that Chris Bosh and Dwanye Wade will be teammates in Miami, Chicago Bulls fans need to be like Al Gore and realize a very inconvenient truth. The top 3 free agents are NOT coming to Chicago. Tomorrow night’s “very special episode of the Lebron show” will likely yield the announcement of King James staying in Cleveland. There are rumblings he’s going  to New York, but really, he’s going to stay put in his hometown. It’s the only place where they intentionally built a practice facility closer to his home.

And with Amare Stoudemire going to the Knicks, and Dirk Nowitzki, Rudy Gay and Paul Pierce re-upping with their current teams, the Bulls have effectively lost out on the top seven free agents. (Depending on how you rank players 5-7 in this free agent class)

So what do you do now? How do you effectively stop disappointment from degenerating into disaster? You can still salvage something substantial from this free agency period.
