With Duncan Keith suspended, Blackhawks positive momentum gone?

The Chicago Blackhawks have been the National Hockey League’s (NHL’s) second hottest team, behind only the scintillatingly-hot Pittsburgh Penguins who have sported a 13-0-1 record recently.  The Blackhawks have blistered their way up the NHL’s Western Conference standings at an 8-1-1 clip, including a recent 5-0-0 run, all of this being done without the services of their captain and leader Jonathan Toews, who has missed the past 14 games with a concussion.

In spite of this devastating loss, the Blackhawks are only one point out of the Western Conference’s 4th position.

With Blackhawks Lineup Shakeup Looming, Is Quenneville Overreacting?

patrick kane

Sunday night was one of the worst nights of the season for the Chicago Blackhawks. They made a slew of defensive mistakes, allowed the Canucks to score five power play goals, and in general looked like a team who was not able to get up for their third game in four nights as they fell to the Vancouver Canucks 6-2 at the United Center. The Sedin twins both torched the Hawks for a combined seven points, and Roberto Luongo actually looked really solid in stopping 38 shots. It was a poor effort by the Hawks on defense, and head coach Joel Quenneville has seemingly responded by making some serious lineup changes.

Thursday’s Three Stars: Saad Shines But Staal and Penguins Get Last Laugh

The Chicago Blackhawks skated into Pittsburgh on Thursday night looking to end a streak of seven consecutive road preseason losses, but unfortunately for them, Jordan Staal and the Penguins had other ideas. Staal scored twice, and Matt Cooke and Tyler Kennedy also added goals as the Pens pulled away late and beat the Hawks 4-1. Michael Frolik picked up the lone tally for the Blackhawks in the second period, and Ray Emery gave up four goals on 19 shots in a losing effort.

Blackhawks-Canucks Game 7 Preview

There was time (not more than two weeks ago) when it was dicey whether the Hawks would even have a post season, and now they’re the giving this year’s President’s Trophy winners a run for their money. Could this be the third year in a row the Hawks end the playoff run for the Canucks?

Only three other teams have made a comeback from a 3-0 hole to win a series: Toronto in ’42, Islanders in ’75 and Phillie last year. Could the Blackhawks be the fourth?
