Will The Pacers –Heat Rivalry Be Determined By Greg Oden And Andrew Bynum?

Andrew-Bynum-and-Greg-Oden

During the 2013 playoffs we all saw how close the Miami Heat and the Indiana Pacers were. The defending champs only managed to crack the Pacers’ resistance in Game 7 and they did that with much difficulty. Every NBA fan is eagerly waiting to see the rematch of last year’s Eastern Conference Finals. The two teams made sure to perform several moves, strengthen their armor as they get ready for the final battle.

Andrew Bynum is the latest piece of the puzzle for Frank Vogel’s group. But will he have a determining role in the outcome of the game? And could we say the same for Miami Heat’s reborn center, Greg Oden?

As things look at the moment, this battle goes above and beyond just Oden and Bynum. Let’s see why.

Paying a Price for Trading a Superstar

Orlando Magic

There is no denying that Dwight Howard is a superstar and superstars only come around every so often. Teams are rarely willing to trade their superstar unless it’s for another superstar or a group of solid players and draft picks. That being said, I have no words for what took place last night.  [Read more…]

After months and months of endless bull, the Orlando Magic and Los Angeles Lakers completed a trade package that included Dwight Howard and Andrew Bynum. But thanks to two unlikely teams, this deal would not have been completed. Who is the winner? Who are the losers?

My “beef” with NBA contracts: Part I – Bad Contracts

Money and the NBA

I love to get paid just as much as the next guy. But when it comes to figuring out a budget and where to spend your money, I think some GM’s are lost. The absurdity of big-dollar contracts in the NBA has made me think a lot since last offseason. With another off-season just around the corner, I would like to dive into last year’s contracts that were handed out, what players did and didn’t deserve them, and then I would like to focus on this year’s contracts and who should and shouldn’t get a big deal. This might turn into a three or four-part series. Here is Part I today.  [Read more…]

NBA Finals: My NBA Finals Christmas List

OKC v. Miami

With the NBA Finals tipping-off in a little over seven hours, I have made a list of 10 things that I am hoping to see from the Finals this year. I know making a list sounds silly and I probably won’t get half of what I put on my list (happens to me every Christmas). But here is a short story: Two years ago, I made a Christmas list of 10 things, roughly, that I wanted. Some of the things were simple items like: a gas card, socks, shorts, and headphones. The other part of the list consisted of some bigger items: groceries (I am a college kid), money, and I think I wrote down something outrageous, like a new laptop. OK. I am getting side-tracked. Here’s my list:

Bulls.com: Pau Gasol interested in coming to Chicago

pau gasol trade

The Chicago Bulls will have to take stock now of what they can and cannot do, as they will be sans Derrick Rose for most, if not all of the season. This changes their complexion and outlook completely. Bulls.com reporter Sam Smith proposes an idea that they might even play for the lottery, a la the San Antonio Spurs when David Robinson was hurt.

We all know that worked out amazingly, as the Spurs subsequently got Tim Duncan. But there’s another route to take as well- acquiring Pau Gasol from the Los Angeles Lakers, possibly in a deal involving Luol Deng.

According to Smith as you’ll read below, Gasol wants out of L.A. and wants into Chicago. Oh and he and Kobe Bryant hate each other:

Shaquille O’Neal: The Future GM of the Orlando Magic?

Shaquille O'Neal

It’s interesting how things work. Everything seems to come full-circle more times than not. Shaquille O’Neal was drafted by the Orlando Magic way back in 1992. He spent four very productive years with the Magic before leaving Disney World for Los Angeles. Remember that O’Neal left for more money. Now, it’s reported that he might have an interview for the GM job of the Magic.

Will the Lakers trade Andrew Bynum?

Andrew Bynum

One thing is clear: the Lakers need to shakeup their roster and GM Mitch Kupchak noted that today. After getting bounced in the second round of the playoffs for the second year in a row, the Lakers are looking for answers. They tried to acquire Chris Paul but the league denied it. They were “shopping” Andrew Bynum, but only for Dwight Howard. They ended up keeping Bynum and he had a very productive season. Despite having his best season of his career, Bynum might be on the move. But with his care-about-nothing attitude could probably care-less. So what could the Lakers get for him?
