NY Jets Stephen Hill: another Mike Tannenbaum bust?

stephen-hill

Mike Tannenbaum had a few successful trades, but he also had a few horrid ones. For as bad as the Mark Sanchez draft day trade looks now, the Jets still got two AFC Championship runs in return.

One Tannenbaum trade that looks to be the most haunting includes Georgia Tech wide receiver, Stephen Hill.

What is the Chicago Bears Biggest Need?

Needs

It seems like such a simple question, but no one can provide a definitive answer.

In free agency, the Bears did quite a bit in terms of addressing some of their most glaring needs. The offensive tackle, tight end, and linebacker positions were all upgraded.

But with the NFL Draft less than a week away, predictions are still all over the board for who the Bears may take with the 20th selection.

In my opinion, this is a two-horse race: offensive lineman, or linebacker. Apparently, most draft experts don’t agree with me.

Chicago Bears Full Draft Predictions

Goodell

The calendar has finally flipped to April. Phil Emery and the Chicago Bears are putting the finishing touches on their draft plans and are preparing their war rooms for the three-day extravaganza known as the NFL Draft.

Most sports media outlets have been churning out mock drafts for the past few months. These mock drafts, however, usually only cover the first round. The most daring sports analysts may even sneak out into the deep end and take a stab at predicting the second round.

Knowing that predicting the draft is just about as easy as picking a perfect NCAA Tournament Bracket, its understandable why fewer still try to predict all seven rounds. But, in the face of my own better judgment, I will attempt to do exactly that.

Here are my predictions at all seven rounds worth of Chicago Bears draft picks, including two predictions that are nearly guaranteed to be correct. [Read more…]

Sunday Has Become a Must Win Game for the Bears

Chilo_Rachal

Chilo Rachal has waved goodbye to the Bears, should we be waving goodbye to the Bears season?

It was all going according to plan just 20 short days ago. The Bears held a 7-1 record, tops in the NFC North by a long shot, and were coming off of an astounding display of dominance over the Tennessee Titans. The defense was being praised by the national media as one of the elite units in the league, and the offense was slowly but surly rounding into form.

Or so we thought. Fast forward about 3 weeks.

If you didn’t know any better and you saw the way most Bears fans have been hanging their heads lately, you’d assume the Bears would have a record worthy of a basement dwelling position in their division.

That’s obviously not the case, as the Bears stand at 7-3 and still hold a share of the NFC North lead with the Green Bay Packers. But with the injury bug biting harder than usual, and with the offense in complete disarray, the fate of the Bears season may very well rest in the outcome of their matchup with the Minnesota Vikings this Sunday.

Don’t Underestimate the Chicago Bears

Celebrations like this should be frequent this year for the Bears.

After the dust had settled following the Bear’s third consecutive season opening win at Soldier Field, there was only one thing going through my mind:

“The Bears are WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE!”

But this time, it wasn’t as if Denny Green and the Arizona Cardinals “let us off the hook”.

The Bears couldn’t have had their opening 3 minutes go any worse if they planned to. But the following 45 minutes showed everyone what this team has the potential to do: hang points on people in a hurry, play suffocating defense, and dominate lesser opponents.

People may be quick to point out that the Colts were the worst team in the NFL last year, and that the Bears have gotten out to fast starts before only to flame out when it counts.

But Sunday’s game provided definitive signs to why this success will stick going forward.

Chicago Bears 53-Man Roster

Dane Sanzenbacher

Did Dane Sanzenbacher survive the final roster cuts?

8 pm CT has come and gone on August 31st.

The Chicago Bears roster received some serious cosmetic surgery in the hours approaching the NFL mandated roster deadline. After signing one veteran, former Bear DT Amobi Okoye, the Bears carved away from 76 players down to 53.

The final roster is set… for now. The Bears can still sign and release players, but they must also make corresponding moves to keep the roster at or below 53 players.

So which players survived the carnage and who got their walking papers?

Chicago Bears Training Camp Position Battles: Wide Receivers

Brandon Marshall making a one-handed catch

Position battles are always a focal point of training camp. This summer in Bourbonnais will be no different for the Chicago Bears.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll dissect the ongoing battles at each position and analyze the talent on the depth chart.

First up will be the wide receiving corps, which has become an incredibly deep and athletic group under new GM Phil Emery.
