Peyton Manning just broke the single season NFL TD pass record of Tom Brady. With a full game left. So what more does Peyton Manning have left to accomplish? When will Peyton Manning leave the game behind? What’s left for him to do?
The NFL on CBS crew weighed in on Peyton Manning.
Phil Simms – I’ve never seen anything like it and I don’t think we ever will again in our lifetime – a quarterback or personality dominate that dominates a football team and a franchise like Peyton Manning can. Not only will he break (Drew Brees’ single-season yards passing record), I really think he’ll break it in the first half. They’re going to go out there and they’re going to throw it. You can move the ball against this Oakland Raiders defense throwing it. Peyton Manning is going to have a great day… I think he will (retire if the Broncos win the Super Bowl). It’s 50/50.
Steve Beuerlein – There’s no way. If he gets through this season healthy, he wants to go after Brett Favre and whatever other records are out there. I have no doubt in my mind he’s going to go another year.
Rich Gannon – The game is too important to him. The guy loves competition. He’s an addict for competition. He’s 37-years-old. I think he has a couple more years in him.
