Jared Goff, Not Carson Wentz, Going #1 overall to L.A. Rams

California Golden Bears Jared Goff will be your #1 overall selection at the NFL Draft Thursday night in Chicago. It’s locked and loaded. The Los Angeles Rams will have a California product to rebuild their relocated franchise around.

It’s time to revise and edit your 2016 NFL mock drafts now as the L.A. Rams just don’t believe Carson Wentz is truly NFL ready.

According to The Big Lead:

Everyone credible who reports on these matters has said so. Including Mike Silver, who was in the Rams’ war room three of the last four years. Silver even came on my radio show Saturday and said the Browns wanted Goff, too. When the Rams traded up, Cleveland had no interest in Wentz. (Which means the Eagles were bidding against themselves but that’s another story.)

Which makes this, from the LA Times, kind of funny:

Multiple people with knowledge of the situation say the NFL has asked the Rams to keep their quarterback choice quiet until the draft, thereby sustaining the drama.

The NFL acting like a television network exec in manufacturing artificial drama in order to boost ratings? Yep, sounds about right. The National Football League further degenerates into one long reality series. Okay, so now we know for certain that Jared Goff is headed to L.A. That means we also know that Carson Wentz is headed to Philadelphia.

So, where do the rest of the quarterback dominoes fall into place? Memphis signal Paxton Lynch will be a first-rounder somewhere. Michigan State’s Connor Cook and Penn State’s Christian Hackenberg could crack the top 35 overall picks too.

Thus we need to go now, we’re going to be busy updating our L.A. Rams mocksourcing and 2016 NFL mock draft.
