Former San Diego Chargers and New England Patriots star linebacker Junior Seau was shot dead within his home.
Update: local news is reporting that the gunshot wound was self-inflicted, and this appears to be a suicide.
According to TMZ (who like always break celebrity death stories in L.A. first:
Cops in Oceanside, CA are investigating a possible shooting involving former NFL star Junior Seau … law enforcement sources tell TMZ.
We spoke with an investigator in the coroner’s office .. who told us they got a call to respond to the scene … though the details surrounding the situation are still unclear.
Cops are currently at a residence where 43-year-old Junior is believed to be staying.
Later, law enforcement officials confirmed the death of Seau and said that it appears to be a suicide. Multiple local news agencies picked up the report. A Seau suicide would me nightmare PR for the NFL if this proves to be CTE related. Another brain-damaged former player taking his own life?
