Expectations are sky high for the Denver Broncos right now; even though Wes Welker will be missing some time. The NFL Today on CBS’ Tony Gonzalez, on the Broncos on Thursday:
“Right now, it’s their defense. In the offense they went and addressed their weaknesses and did what they need to do to get even better. They’re a playoff football team. They’re a Super Bowl caliber football team. They are my favorite to make it back to the big show.”
And Gonzalez this morning on The NFL Today doubling down (and more) on his statements.
“I think the Denver Broncos are going to go undefeated and get to the Super Bowl and win it all.” (video clip)
Despite Wes Welker picking the wrong week to stop sniffing Old Spice, and how his suspension will affect the offense early, Denver is still the odds-on favorite to win the Super Bowl. At least according to the ESPN’s panel of NFL experts.
Florio on NFL and NFLPA making progress on comprehensive new drug policy and its effects on Wes Welker and Josh Gordon suspensions: “They could be reduced. If this gets done by Sunday, those suspensions could go away completely.”
The future of Wes Welker will be key to the Denver Broncos.
There’s still the Peyton Manning to Eric Decker combination. But they need Wes Welker, to get that Denver Broncos offense firing on all cylinders.
