Pro Football Hall of Famer Richard Dent joined Inside the NFL on Showtime as a special guest analyst. The sackman’s coming…to premium cable, you’re going to get bent, here’s the insights of Richard Dent.
On the read option and protecting the quarterback:
“You have to react. Otherwise you’re putting me in harm’s way, when I have to think. A defensive player has a chance to really get hurt in a situation like this because I’m thinking about things. And I’m not reacting.”
The Super Bowl XX MVP added this too:
“You’re protecting the quarterback now. They’re 6’5” and if you hit them in the leg, it’s a problem. If you hit him up high, it’s a problem. But yet, when you have a guy that’s 5’10” tackling a guy that’s 6’5”, you’re hitting him in his sweet spot.”
Richard Dent joined host James Brown and analysts Phil Simms and Cris Collinsworth who covered a lot of NFL topics including Ndamukong Suh.
“People ask, is he a dirty player? I’ve met him many times. He’s very nice off the field. When he puts that helmet on, he turns into a different guy. We can only go by the evidence we’ve been given. And it’s telling us, he just does things that are wrong. And I think when you look at that $100,000 fine, he got off really easy… When I saw it, because of his history, I figured, it’s definitely going to be at least a one-game suspension,” said Simms of Suh.
