NASCAR Driver Ty Dillon loves his football and his fantasy football. Ty plays in a football league with his brother Austin Dillon, some of their friends and staff at Richard Childress Racing, the draft is usually hosted in late August at Austin’s barn. Ty Dillon is well known and quite accomplished in the NASCAR truck series and Xfinity series. He’s currently in the top three in the points standings and just came off another top five finish in Iowa this past weekend.
He was the 2011 ARCA Series Champion and 2012 Truck Series Rookie of the Year. He was also voted 2013 most popular driver in the truck series.
And we talk a little bit of NASCAR as he was gracious enough to stop by and do a podcast with us. But the focal point here is Carolina Panthers football and doing a 2015 Carolina Panthers season preview.
Ty can name everyone on the Panthers roster and his favorite players are Cam Newton and Luke Kuechly. In the audio file embedded below Ty Dillon and I discuss some of the Panthers biggest story lines entering this season- Newton’s monster contract and all the media scrutiny and coverage that has come along with it (Bo Jackson had a great soundbite on his friend Cam Newton when we interviewed him last month), the improving receiving corps, the defense, the Carolina Panthers position within the pecking order of the NFC South and more.
“I think our defense could be one of the best, if not the best in the NFL this year, so it will be a lot of fun to watch this season,” Dillon said of the Panthers.
Ty Dillon also talked some Charlotte Hornets basketball with us. He’s a huge fan, and his wife, Haley Carey, now Haley Dillon, is a Hornets Honey Bee (member of the dance team).
