Ever since Bill Cowher left coaching in 2006, he’s been linked to open NFL jobs every carousel. It makes sense that his name keeps popping up because he’s only 58, and still has potentially a lot of good years on the sideline left in him, if he so desires.

When he walked away in 2006, he was just 48 years old, but he had already won two AFC titles and a Super Bowl with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Philadephia Eagles coaching search is heating up with a lot of rumors. Obviously, the New York Giants have an opening as well, and that’s where we’ve heard the name Bill Cowher come up the most.

Cowher lives in New York, where he works as an analyst for the NFL on CBS. Therefore, if he were to leave his sweet, plush broadcasting gig in order to return to the coaching world, the transition would be easier and less stressful.

Bill Cowher, and as well as other CBS on NFL Analysts were on media conference call today to talk NFL postseason and offseason. Cowher was asked if he’s thought about a return to coaching.

“I don’t close any doors if I don’t have to. it doesn’t make any sense to do that. I’m very happy with what I’m doing at CBS,” he responded.

His answer was actually a lot longer, but that’s the gist. When Cowher was asked if he’s been contacted by the New York Giants, he responded with:

“I made it clear that I am very happy with the job I have now, and with where I am at in life.”

Bill Cowher gave a very long winded answer about coaching searches in general. Mark Kaboly, the Steelers beat writer for the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
