This Chicago Bulls Summer League article comes from new contributor Jeremy Harris. Chicago Bulls 2013 first round draft pick, guard Tony Snell is averaging 10.7 points in 34 minutes but shooting just 35.7% from the field and 18.2% from three point range.  Significantly, he is averaging 4.7 rebounds and 2.0 steals.  He averaged only 2.6 rebounds in his third and final season at New Mexico.
Bulls’ second round selection, forward Erik Murphy, is shooting a robust 56% from the field and 42.9% from three point distance but averaging just 2.3 rebounds per game, a problem that plagued the 6-10 big man at Florida.
Is Marquis Teague the next Jimmy Butler? In that will he develop as much this offseason as Butler did last year? We explore that in detail here
6-10 power forward Malcolm Thomas leads the NBA Summer League in rebounding and set a Las Vegas Summer League record by hauling down 22 rebounds in a game Monday evening.  Thomas had a seven-game stint with the Bulls late last season, not including the playoffs, and is a candidate to fill the team’s 13th roster spot.
6-3 guard Andrew Goudelock leads the NBA Summer League in scoring, averaging 22.7 points.  Goudelock spent two years in the Los Angeles Lakers organization after being drafted in the second round from The College of Charleston in 2011.  The Bulls could sign him or at least invite Goudelock to training camp if no other teams offers him a contract.
Lastly, under the NBA’s collective bargaining agreement, each team must carry at least 13 players on its roster, 12 active.  Whether it is to save money or to leave roster spots open to put in waiver claims on players, the Chicago Bulls generally carry the minimum of 13.  Here are 12 players all but assured of a roster spot:
Derrick Rose, Marquis Teague, Kirk Hinrich, Jimmy Butler, Mike Dunleavy, Tony Snell, Luol Deng, Carlos Boozer, Taj Gibson, Erik Murphy, Joakim Noah and Nazr Mohammed.  I would prefer to see Thomas awarded the 13th roster spot.  Please share your thoughts on whom you think they Bulls should consider for the 13th and possibly final roster spot on this year’s squad.
