Jorge Soler and Kris Bryant were named the top two prospects in all of baseball according to ESPN Analyst Keith Law. A couple weeks ago, Law named the Cubs minor league system the best in all of baseball, and when appeared on “Olbermann” yesterday, he had great things to say about both Soler and Bryant.
Adnan Virk was filling in for Keith Olbermann, who was suspended due to this incident. During the Cubs prospects discussion, Law said Jorge Soler will have the starting right field job from day one and that Bryant will be up with the club and possibly a starting infielder by May 1st.
Cubs media covering spring training said yesterday that Bryant will see some outfield work this preseason too. Coincidentally, the Cubs announced their official promotional schedule for this season yesterday as well. Jorge Soler debut bobblehead night is July 25th. Joe Maddon debut bobblhead night is June 10th and Jon Lester bobblehead day is August 13th.
Bryant does not have a bobblehead- yet. With both Patrick Kane and Derrick Rose going down with serious injuries last night, Chicago could use some optimism. Coincidentally, Chicago had a mayoral election in which voter turnout hit a record low (matching the current weather forecast this weekend). So even the weather is as uninspiring as the Jay Cutler of mayoral elections (the city resoundingly said “don’t care”).
So pressure’s on you now Jorge Soler, and the rest of the Cubs to give something Chicago to get excited about.
