The Chicago Cubs announced pitcher Rob Zastryzny has joined the Kane County Cougars from Short-A Boise, while pitcher Jose Rosario has been transferred to Boise.  Zastryzny (2nd Round, 2013) was the 41st overall selection in June’s draft and pitched collegiately at the University of Missouri.

The 6-foot-3, 205 pound left-hander posted a 3.38 ERA in 90.2 innings with three complete games and one shutout in his junior year this past season. His 228 career strikeouts in three seasons at Missouri rank tied for eighth-most in school history. Zastryzny made his professional debut with Boise earlier this summer and had a 3.14 ERA in 8 appearances – 7 of which were starts.

Zastryzny joins fellow pitcher Tyler Skulina (4th Round) and infielder Giuseppe Papaccio (18th Round) as ’13 Cubs draftees on the current Cougars squad. Don’t forget Cougars outfielder Albert Almora. The Cubs savior and 6th overall pick is still the main attraction for the KC Cougars.

He is currently on the disabled list for a week though.
