The Jason Kidd deal is official. The Milwaukee Bucks just sent out a press release announcing the dismissal of Larry Drew. The entire release is below, and it makes no mention of Jason Kidd. (only because they can’t until he’s under contract, but obviously we all know the news by now)
Milwaukee Bucks General Manager John Hammond stated, “Despite the challenging season, Larry always handled himself and represented the Bucks in a first-class manner. Larry did the best he could in a difficult situation, especially given all of our injuries. I want to thank Larry for all of his efforts, and we wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.”
Drew was named the 13th head coach in Bucks history on June 3, 2013.
His deal with the Nets was for $10.25 million over four years, and he was not pleased that fellow first-time coaches Steve Kerr and Derek Fisher received far more lucrative salaries this offseason, according to Yahoo Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski.
Jason Kidd wants to bring Nets assistant coaches Eric Hughes and Sean Sweeney with him to Milwaukee, according to Yahoo! Sports. He’ll make between four and five million dollars and his deal will be for no less than three years. The Nets will receive two second round picks in return for Jason Kidd.
And as you know Wojnarowski breaking news is better and more trustworthy than a team breaking it. Kidd left all that talent and an All-Star team in Brooklyn (although to be fair, their championship window is closing; if it was ever open to begin with) to go to an awful team and a mess of a franchise in order to get more money and more power. Bucks GM John Hammond still has a job; for now. Obviously Kidd is doing this in order to get himself in a position where could be like Popp or Doc; doing the grocery shopping in addition to the cooking.
Now of course, Jason Kidd is a total snake in the grass. What he did to Drew is unforgivable. Kidd is the NBA all time leader in ugly divorces, and in short, both he and the Bucks deserve each other. Remember this is a guy who also has drinking and driving, as well as punching his wife in the face on his rap sheet.
