Paul Pogba to Manchester United is supposedly a done deal. Everyone seems to think so. Even Adidas, United’s shirt partner have overtly implied it. However, it’s still not official yet. Discussing the do-it-all dynamo midfielder, long time United Defender Rio Ferdinand says the Red Devils must bring Pogba back at any cost.

£100 million is not too much money at all, in Ferdinand’s mind.

“It doesn’t matter what anyone says about the fee Juventus are getting for Paul Pogba because that is the going rate for a player of his quality,” Ferdinand, now a pundit for BT Sport, told ESPN FC.

“It wasn’t long ago that people said United were not spending enough, so I say go with it and get Pogba in whatever it costs.”

Back on July 12th, Ferdinand wrote in the Sunday Times, of Pogba:

“He was 17, nearly 18, and before he came into the changing room I said, ‘Listen, this kid, I’ve seen him play for the reserves and youths and he has something.’

“After he trained, not a player in that Manchester United first team disagreed. Everyone was sold on Paul Pogba. When he left United every player was saying, ‘What the hell is going on?’ But he came to a decision to leave and sometimes these things happen in football.”

Yes, the players were in fact stunned that day to learn that Pogba was on his way out at Old Trafford. Rio Ferdinand then went on to praise Pogba’s character for how well he handled moving on to Juve successfully. Rio hopes that Pogba does in fact complete the transfer deal and move back to United.

“His self-belief in quitting United for Juventus showed his confidence in his ability, and that belief is actually a positive thing,” he wrote.

“It comes from a drive to improve himself.”

“I would love him to return. United need personalities. The Premier League needs personalities. The league needs star players, charisma, and at the moment they are not in England. Zlatan Ibrahimovic is here. Yes, that’s a great start, but how long for?”
