If Big Ten basketball has its own version of “El Classico,” it’s the Indiana Hoosiers vs. the Purdue Boilermakers. No. 17-ranked Purdue and No. 22-ranked Indiana rekindle their acrimony for the 204th time on Saturday night in Assembly Hall with Bob Wischusen and Dan Dakich doing the call on ESPN, beginning at 8:30 PM ET.
Tomorrow night’s contest marks the first time since Feb. 19, 2008, that both teams enter the game nationally-ranked as well as each team having at least 21 wins.
Our final question was about rivalries in the Big Ten, and Josh Whitman gave a great answer about being at Mackey Arena in the hey day of the Purdue vs Indiana rivalry, the Gene Keady vs Bob Knight battles, when acrimony between the two schools was at its highest.
And for the record, having just completed my first trip to Mackey, I found the home of Purdue to be a much better experience than Indiana’s Assembly Hall.
