Chicago Blackhawks begin selling off: Bolland, Frolik gone

Well that didn’t take long. The Chicago Blackhawks began the post Stanley Cup sell-off today during NHL Draft Day. The parade was just held on Friday. Here’s what intentionally hilarious about the stupidly and horribly written Chicago Blackhawks press releases. Instead of giving it a headline like

“Blackhawks trade Dave Bolland,” which would make a lot of sense, we get this crapola:

Blackhawks acquire draft picks from Toronto

Geez just give it to us straight, instead of idiotic euphemisms and corporatespeak.

The Chicago Blackhawks have acquired the 51st and 117th overall selections in the 2013 National Hockey League Entry Draft and a fourth-round selection in the 2014 NHL Draft from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for second line center Dave Bolland.

The headline for the Frolik deal, at least it mentioned his freaking name, so they got that one kind of right. The Hawks cquired the 74th and 134th overall selections in the 2013 NHL Draft from the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for forward Michael Frolik. The Czech Republic native has tallied 151 points (61G, 90A) in 349 career NHL games with the Blackhawks and Florida Panthers.

As they say on Wall Street: “sell in may and go away.”

But when you win it all, you have to wait until very late June to start selling off your major pieces and shedding salary.
