On July 26th, the Chicago Fire will host Tottenham Hotspur in an international friendly. The Spurs have something in common with the Chicago Cubs of MLB. Both play in a historic and colorful stadium (Wrigley Field and White Hart Lane) located smack dab in a neighborhood in a huge, thriving metropolis. Hence, I know a few Cubs fans here who also happen to be Tottenham Hotspur supporters.
Makes sense.
I had a great exclusive interview with a Tottenham supporter at one of the Premier League bars here in Chicago.
We talked for awhile this spring about a multitude of topics, including White Hart Lane, the neighborhood surrounding White Hart Lane and the game day experience. And much more, so have a listen:
This is just the fifth time that the Fire will welcome an English side to the Chicagoland area. The Men in Red are 2-2-0 in international friendlies against clubs from England, including Aston Villa, Manchester United, Everton and Derby County.
