The big news today in the Tottenham Hotspur world, of course, is the Eric Dier contract extension. Dier will be with the north London club for five more seasons; until 2021. The 22-year-old midfielder has established himself as of the team’s main contributors and he’s seen his international career with England take off as well.
The Eric Dier deal came on the heels of the Christian Eriksen extension, and Spurs Manager Mauricio Pochettino said that another contract extension for another player will be announced soon.
“I can only promise in the next few days that another player will have the same news that happened with Eric Dier,” Pochettino said at a news conference.
So who will it be? Expectations point to either Harry Kane or Kyle Walker, according to the Guardian. Also, Jan Vertonghen and Danny Rose are in advanced talks, with Erik Lamela continuing negotiations with the club. Thus, it could be any of the five that Pochettino is referring to.
It’s a mystery, but this is certain- Spurs are locking up the nucleus of the team for the long term.
