Tottenham Hotspur’s search for a new manager may be ending as Ajax head coach Frank de Boer confirms that he’s been in talks with the North London side. De Boer says White Hart Lane contacted the Dutch champions through their director of football and former Arsenal star Marc Overmars.

“I’m going to listen and talk,” Frank de Boer was quoted by the Guardian.

“Then I’ll make my feelings known. I want to add something to a club, so that people can say that they see the hand of Frank de Boer.

“Liverpool are a good example of this with Brendan Rodgers.”

Yes, Frank de Boer believes he could be the Spurs version of Brendan Rodgers. It’s a lofty goal and exudes a confidence. That’s the kind of ambition and self-assurance you want in a leader of your football club.

Tottenham’s first option to replace caretaker manager Tim Sherwood this summer was current Netherlands National Team manager Louis van Gaal, who will be available once the World Cup is over.

However, Van Gaal is supposedly close to completing a deal with Manchester United, to be David Moyes ‘ successor at Old Trafford. Thus, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy focuses now on Frank de Boer. Andre Villas-Boas was sacked in December 2013 and Tim Sherwood took over on an interim basis. Although, he seemed to think that he would be there long term; or at least have a chance to be the full time guy. Unfortunately, when Tottenham fell out of Champions League contention, Sherwood fell totally out of favor.

So it looks like Frank de Boer is the man.

“I want to add something to a club, build something. I won’t be talking to other clubs until after 3 May,” Frank de Boer told NOS.
