Time to talk Tottenham Hotspur summer transfer window as the season winds down, and we head toward the off-season. The news today is that Tottenham are set to conclude new contracts for midfielders Christian Eriksen and Erik Lamela and defender Jan Vertonghen.
That’s the narrative in the Daily Star Sunday edition. It picks up on the same story found in Football Insider the day before.
That publication claims that White Hart Lane wishes to announce all three contracts together, all at the same time.
Spurs are in advanced talks with the trio about improved deals as they work on a round of contracts for their key players.
A source close to the Tottenham boardroom has told Football Insider that the club are hopeful the deals will be completed before the summer and they are planning to announce them together.
Eriksen, who has had individual games this season placing him among the world’s elite (the Manchester City contest comes to mind immediately) has dropped hints in public that he plans to stay.
Vertonghen was out with injury for two and a months, but made a nice seamless return to the back line last week.
Lamela might the individual player who best personifies the traits and values of what Manager Maurico Pochettino wants to build with Spurs. Not saying he’s the best player, just the best paradigm of what Pochettino looks to emphasize in his program.
