Sara Carbonero is unknown here in the United States, but she’s a huge deal in Europe, especially Spain. Sara Carbonero is the fiance of Spanish goalkeeper Iker Casillas. She’s also a journalist and host for Telecinco in Spain.
So there’s all kinds of conflict of interest going on there. Remember, that old adage “don’t sleep with your sources.” Well, Sara Carbonero is allegedly doing exactly that. On the plus side, at least soccer finally gave us a moment that was mildly interesting.
Especially so when you consider Sara Carbonero was voted the Sexiest reporter in the world by FHM USA.
During the 2010 World Cup a few publications in the British press alleged that Sara Carbonero, reporting the match between Spain and Switzerland, distracted Casillas, causing the unexpected Swiss victory.
Madrid-based newspapers and a popular Spanish sports daily all ran stories claiming the opposite. I don’t know who’s right and who’s wrong about Sara Carbonero, because that would entail me actually paying attention to soccer.
And as physically attractive as Sara Carbonero is, she’s not still not good looking enough to make me want to care about soccer.
