United Dominoes: Modric Likely, Fabregas Forgotten, Hernandez, Nani up in the air

This United article is from new TSB contributor Robbie Dunne.

The Domino effect that is the transfer window of European soccer is about to begin, it appears. The initial period of teams throwing out feelers to see what response they will get is now starting to end and the serious offers are starting to flood in… and out, for that matter.

Tottenham Hotspurs seem increasingly likely to buy Robert Soldado from Valencia and Valencia in return are at Manchester United’s Javier Hernandez as a replacement for the 28 year old Spanish striker.

The little Mexican has impressed for United but has seen limited chances with the emergence of Wellbeck and the signing of Van Persie. The problem with this move is that Manchester United are in no need to sell Hernandez and are quite content with the job he is doing coming off the bench and filling in for

Van Persie when the Dutchman is in need of a break. Valencia are set to receive in the region of €25-30 million for Soldado so depending on how much they want Hernandez, they could really test United’s faith in Hernandez with a bid that United can’t refuse.

Nani, who also fell out of favor during last year’s successful title campaign has requested a meeting with new manager David Moyes with PSG and Monaco seemingly interested in the winger. Outgoing boss, Sir Alex Ferguson, did a great job of building up Nani’s price tag last season by stating he was one of the best in the world and had the ability to make or break a team’s season with his ability.

This is the kind of talk that grabs money spending clubs’ attention and with the World Cup coming up and Moyes not really saying much about the Portugese man, it seems more likely that he will pack his bags and leave Manchester with a lot of unanswered questions regarding his ability, potential and his position in United folklore.

United look destined to lose out on Cesc Fabregas. At the end of the day, it seems as though the Barcelona man’s roots are too deeply ingrained in the football club to move back to England, regardless of money, regular playing time or any other factor. The Catalan club are world renowned for their family like structure and Fabregas and Barcelona management’s stance on his future never seemed to budge.

Moyes has finally gotten the hint and moved to another man who made his name in the premiership. Luke Modric is on United’s radar and a deal is far
more likely than any of United’s previous targets. The Madrid giants have brought in some great young talent this summer in the form of Isco and Illaramendi and it seems more and more likely that Modric will languish on the bench with Carlo Ancelotti at the helm for Real Madrid.

Bottom line is you can rip up all the newspapers you previously bought.

The hint dropping and “feeling out” period is now over. August is upon us and with the transfer deadline in the not so distant future, business is soon to pick up!

Keep your eyes open and your ears to the ground as Moyes looks to start sending some of the pocket money he has been given to start making statements
