Rafael took to his Instagram account today to address the rumors that he was leaving Manchester United. “I’m not leaving” he said on IG, while wearing his polo emblazoned with the Red Devils crest. An Instagram user asked Rafael about the rumors and he responded within an hour. Rafael has featured 17 times under David Moyes this year but he’s struggled with injuries.
The Daily Mail reported yesterday that the agent for both Rafael and Fabio da Silva said that the pair was likely to leave Old Trafford this summer. So obviously this report was wrong. But no so fast. Don’t blame the Mail for getting this wrong, sports agents are known for planting these types of stories in the media all the time. It’s about getting leverage and assessing market value with both the current team and prospective suitors. They use the media for these means.
And here is some of the fan reaction regarding what Rafael said on social media. Giving you a good idea of what Rafael means to United supporters.
