Radamel Falcao is having a lot fitness issues since his move to Old Trafford on transfer deadline day. When the club made the move to acquire him on loan, Falcao was recovering from cruciate damage that was sustained while he was with Monaco. The surgery and rehabilitation kept him out of the World Cup. Louis van Gaal has delayed his decision on whether to buy Radamel Falcao because of all the injuries to the Manchester United striker.
It turns out he’s fit only to be a sub right now. He’s not healthy enough to be a starter, claims Van Gaal.
Van Gaal said: “Falcao needs match fitness. He can only play for 20 minutes.”
“I have selected him despite that but the rhythm of the game in the Premier League is the highest.
“It would be a better contribution if he played with the second team but I cannot do that because on Tuesday Rooney was injured for the match against Stoke.
“I had to adapt to the needs of selection. I am not interested whether he is unhappy being on the bench. He has to follow my philosophy. I am here because of that.”
Falcao has scored just one goal, and contributed one assist in three starts and four sub appearances for United. Despite being one of the club’s top earners, he is yet to have played a full game. It’s safe to say that his signing has been a bust thus far, and you can understand why United may not want to buy him permanently.
“I’m not interested,” said Van Gaal, when asked if Falcao was frustrated by his treatment.
“He has to follow my philosophy. Do you understand that? Yes, I’m here because of that.”
