Manchester United have been taking offers for midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin and winger Memphis Depay, as Everton Manager Ronald Koeman has reportedly come calling to make a deal for the duo.
Schneiderlin and Depay, two 2015 summer transfer window acquisitions, have been borderline frozen out under Mourinho’s regime.
United have reportedly rejected Everton’s £19 million bid to sign Morgan Schneiderlin, as the amount is still £5 million less than Old Trafford paid a year and a half ago.
Neither Schneiderlin nor Depay has started a single league game this season, and both are commonly left off the substitute roster. However, Mourinho has made it clear that he will only move out players if the price is right.
Mourinho said at his news conference on Friday: “Their situation is exactly the same. Both of them I will allow to leave the club. I will allow them to leave if the right offer comes. Until this moment, no.”
“Is this a good situation? No. Why not? Because I don’t think about them as options in this moment.”
“In normal conditions, they would probably be selected for the match tomorrow and they aren’t because we are waiting for something that a couple of weeks ago looked like 100 percent and at the moment looks like zero percent because we don’t have any offer that is close to the quality for the players we have.”
Basti is actually expected to stay once the transfer window closes.
“I am always open to listen to offers for every player,” Mourinho said the last time this topic came up in a media briefing, December 14th in advance of the Crystal Palace fixture. “But more than listen to offers, I am always ready to listen to the players themselves.”
“So any player who knocks on my door and is not happy and wants to move, when the offers are correct, I will never stop a player from leaving, even if it is to a rival.”
“When Juan Mata left Chelsea to come to Manchester United, no problem at all. In my mentality, no problem at all. I am always open.”
