Manchester United starting 11: transfers that won’t happen lineup

With the season ending in a few hours, the talk will soon shift to the summer transfer window. So it’s the perfect time to construct and post this Manchester United starting 11. It’s a line-up composed of all players who have been heavily linked to with a move to United, but will never ever come to Old Trafford.

Or in the case of Ronaldo, not likely coming back. I guess you have to preface this with “never say never again,” to quote the 1983 James Bond film title, but really, it’s difficult to see these really ever happening.

A couple of these names, we can already say “didn’t happen” instead of “won’t happen.” (Vidal, Strootman) Given what a very busy summer Louis van Gaal, Ed Woodward and company are expected to have, it was difficult to limit this lineup to just 11. (And yes, the positioning and formation here isn’t “an exact science”)

Give a follow to @WeWalkAlone19, I mean the handle itself should have sold you on clicking that link, because he’s the one who inspired this post.

Raheem Sterling  Harry Kane

Cristiano Ronaldo                  Gareth Bale

Kevin Strootman   Xherdan Shaqiri   Arturo Vidal

Mats Hummels  Ron Vlaar   Nathaniel Clyne

Petr Cech

As you can see our lineup has three defenders, three midfielders, two wingers and two attacking forwards, it’s also a line-up that would cost an absurd amount of money. A lot of these players have been ruled out over the last couple of weeks, and we’ve heard a couple of them being declared “not for sale” by their current teams.

Goalkeeper was tricky, but I’m guessing if Cech leaves Chelsea, it’s for Arsenal, instead of United.

We also have a Manchester United starting 11 of transfer rumors; players who may be coming soon to Old Trafford. And coming soon we’ll have a Manchester United starting 11 composed entirely of current players who might be leaving.
