You can officially welcome back the Luke Shaw “isn’t fit” narrative. Luke Shaw became Manchester United’s 40th injury of the season tonight, but more importantly, United got the victory and moved up to fourth place in the current table. The 2-1 victory at Arsenal is critical for the race to qualify for Champions League.
“Shaw came back from internationals not fit enough, so we made him fit, but now he’s injured again,” United Manager Louis van Gaal said.
Earlier this season, the owner of the richest contract for a teenager in British football history overcame injury concerns over a dead knee he suffered against Everton last weekend to start for England and completed an entire game for England during the international break in mid October. Then on November 8th, he was man of the match in the win over Crystal Palace.
Better times ahead for the 19 year old at Old Trafford. Manchester United fans saw a glimpse into what the future holds and the potential upside of Luke Shaw. Yes, there’s a crisis of injuries right now, especially in the back line. However, they’re not in too bad of a spot right now.
