Soccer Power Index gives the Dutch a 43% of reaching the World Cup Final game, the second worst chances of the final four teams. The Netherlands also have the lowest championship percentage at 14%. Brazil are the overwhelming favorites to win it all. Yes, even with Neymar out for the rest of the tournament.
Something to think about. The Netherlands are a very intriguing pick.
As people engage in World Cup final betting, The Netherlands have the fourth best odds. However, I think that this could be their year. As anyone who’s wagered on this World Cup will tell you: unpredictability has been the rule at this tournament. As the World Cup concludes, maybe it’s time to go for a longshot. Perhaps Holland is the way to go.
They looked as impressive as any team in group play. The knockout round didn’t quite go as smoothly. Yes, they barely survived the round of sixteen, and only did so on a very controversial play. But I believe that their best player Robin van Persie, and their Coach Louis van Gaal can close the deal this time. Both are among the finest in the world at their position; and they work alongside each other for both club and country.
In the round of 8, Van Gaal showed that he is masterclass; a brilliant tactician. He did some riverboat gambling in his decision making, and it paid off.
The Dutch may not be favored, but they were runner-up on three occasions; and also have a fourth place finish in 1998 on top of that. With three semifinals in five World Cups, Oranje are the greatest program never to have won it all. Perhaps Sunday night, we’ll be able to say differently.
