The scoring prowess of Leicester City forward Jamie Vardy has attracted the big boys of the Premier League. There’s been rumored interest from Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal. Gunners boss Arsene Wenger even compared Vardy to Alexis Sanchez, and then compared both players to lions.
Vardy has tied Ruud van Nistelroy’s Premier League record for consecutive games with a goal, and he’ll have the chance to break it against Van Nistelroy’s former club tomorrow. On the eve of this match, United Manager Louis van Gaal was asked “Is Jamie Vardy someone you would consider buying?”
Van Gaal’s response: “He was already last season a very nasty player for us. He scored, won a penalty, and now he is scoring 10 games in a row. I only know Dennis Bergkamp as a player who did the same with Ajax. It’s not so easy to do that.”
The Dutchman totally evaded the question, so the reporter then followed up with “but is he on your shopping list, would you be looking to buy someone like Jamie Vardy?”
“That is none of your business I think,” LVG responded.
The very next question he fielded was about making moves in the January transfer window to improve the squad. He was asked if he needs to buy some more players in order to improve the club’s title chances.
“I’ve already answered this question I believe, so I cannot repeat myself every press conference, I have said that before,” Van Gaal answered.
