De Gea back in United first team training, but Romero still starting

Time for your daily David de Gea update. Will he stay at Manchester United, or move to Real Madrid? In the words of Sideshow Mel from The Simpsons, “this endeavor is the height of tedium.” Nothing is official yet of course, but here’s the latest headlines on the situation.

According to the Mail on Sunday, De Gea has returned to first-team training after being dropped amid interest from Real Madrid – but Sergio Romero will continue in goal. So that previously reported narrative, in which it was claimed that De Gea was refusing to play for United, or kind of pulling a Raheem Sterling kind of maneuver, is now over.

If it was ever true to begin with. Of course, it’s weird that Louis van Gaal would imply that De Gea wasn’t interested in playing unless it were true.
