David de Gea has dismissed talk that he would leave Manchester United for Real Madrid. He said in an interview that he’s happy at Old Trafford, and that the narratives claiming he would bolt for Los Blancos are “just rumors.”
As David de Gea supplants Iker Casillas as Spain #1 GK, the his career stock continues to take off even higher. Manchester United are “planning discussions over an improved contract with their goalkeeper and hope to ratify a new long-term deal soon.” {Daily Mail}
This is of course in response to the Real Madrid interest. According to Marca, Real Madrid are eyeing David De Gea as the successor to Iker Cassilas. Los Blancos have definitely expressed their interest before.
“De Gea’s current contract expires in two years and United are keen to secure their Spanish goalkeeper on an improved deal worth around £90,000 a week,’ reported the Mirror. However, nothing materialized.
De Gea was signed for £17.8 million in June 2011 but he has never signed a contract extension with United.
David De Gea spent three years with Atletico Madrid at the beginning of his career and may return if Real Madrid make a bid in the winter. Real president Florentino Perez, will likely contact United ahead of the summer market, even though David De Gea is supposedly very happy in Old Trafford.
