Manchester United and Spain goalkeeper David de Gea has saved both his club and country teams many times; both literally and figuratively. De Gea is considered by many to be the world’s #1. He’s phenomenal; but yesterday he struggled mightily for Spain in the European championships.
De Gea conceded two goals by his near post, which thus ended his unreal scoreless streak. As you might expect during a Euros being held in the social media age within which we currently live, the social media vitriol came out.
De Gea trended, but for the wrong reasons, and most of the better Tweets were nasty.
#DaveSaves had the most perfect response however. This was brilliant. De Gea said on Twitter: “Just the defeated loses the illusion. Thanks for the critics, they motivate me. To keep fighting.”
Sólo es derrotado el que pierde la ilusión. Gracias por las críticas, me motivan. A seguir luchando! pic.twitter.com/UPD2K3hiEC
