Maybe there really is something to Marcos Rojo “liking” that Instagram pic with himself and Angel Di Maria together with a Manchester United background. Reports today suggest that the Real Madrid star is indeed set to join Man United for a British record transfer fee of £56 million.

The Argentine winger is expected to hold talks with United next week. (he is expected to wear the iconic #7, more on that here)

Sky Sports Spanish football expert Guillem Balague exclusively revealed the news.

“At long last there is significant movement in the seemingly never ending, ‘Will he stay or will he go’ saga of Angel di Maria. It now looks certain that he will leave Real Madrid and become a Manchester United player.

Both The Express and Mundo Deportivo are reporting that Los Blancos have sanctioned the move and that the Argentinian winger will travel to Manchester within the next 48 hours to finalize his deal and complete his medical. So it looks like Ed Woodward and his famous “watch this space” remark is finally starting to be something worth watching.

Backing up a bit, and what has transpired regarding Angel Di Maria and how we got here….

Real Madrid Manager Carlo Ancelotti admits that he isn’t sure about what the future holds for Angel Di Maria in the Spanish capital. Supposedly, he’s also told Di Maria that he could leave if he wants to. Then Rojo did this on social media, further fueling speculation.
