Future of Daniel Sturridge at Liverpool FC Uncertain, Says Jurgen Klopp

Daniel Sturridge has had an extremely injury-plagued career at Liverpool football club. Year after year, he’s consistently encountering physical setbacks that keep him from being able to stay on the pitch. He’s only started five Premier League games this season, and he hasn’t been a shred of what he was when you had the three Ss attack of 2013-14.

The runner-up team of that season boasted Luis Suarez and Raheem Sterling alongside Daniel Sturridge, and they were really fearsome and extremely fun to watch.

When asked if the 27-year-old forward will be staying or going this summer, Liverpool Manager Jurgen Klopp said: “I have no idea what happens in the summer.”

“It is not only Daniel but a lot of players. Daniel was not in training for eight or nine days because of a virus infection.

“We have to bring him back to the best shape possible and then bring this season to an end as successfully as possible. Then we will make decisions and speak about Daniel and any other players about what will happen at the end of the season.

“A lot of things will influence this and we can speak about it when it is time.”

Sturridge has two years left on his deal.

Just last month, LFC icon Steven Gerrard was doing some TV punditry and he asked if Sturridge’s lack of action on the club level will hurt his chances with the England National Team.

Should Sturridge move on to a place where he’ll have a bigger and better role?

Stevie G. says no, stating on BT Sport 2:

“But Liverpool aren’t going to let him go for cheap. Liverpool need him. He scores goals when he plays, his minutes-to-goals ratio is incredible.

“I’m sure if someone came along with a huge, huge offer and Daniel wanted it there could be a solution there, but as it stands right now Liverpool need Daniel Sturridge and I can’t see him going anywhere short term.

“He’s capable of world-class moments and performances and I think Liverpool are on the verge of something really big under this manager.”

“Maybe he is frustrated from week to week but there’s a great chance he could get silverware with Liverpool in the near future.

“If I were him I’d be patient. I think there’s good things on the horizon.”
