After six matches of Premier League action, Liverpool has earned seven points. LFC currently sits 14th in the table and that’s extremely disappointing. Other than the first half of the game against Tottenham, they have looked uninspiring. Take away the first 45 minutes versus Spurs (well, the win over Southampton was nice too, as the Saints are in second place) and Brendan Rodgers side has not resembled last year’s team at all.
They have not shown an ability to adjust to life after Luis Suarez. At least not up to this point. Liverpool has lots of talent and lots of potential though. And it is a long season. It would help immensely to get Balotelli going though. He’s been a bust thus far.
What about the Reds Champions League chances? What is the likelihood LFC advances beyond group play? We have that info for you here. As bad as they have looked, certainly today versus Basel when they really looked awful, chances for surviving are quite good.
Here are the current UEFA Champions League Group B Standings.
Team Points Percentage chance of advancing, according to Soccer Power Index
Real Madrid 6 99%
Basel 3 34%
Liverpool 3 62%
Ludogrets 0 5%
