Adam Lallana is one of the main acquisitions Brendan Rodgers has made this transfer window. It’s been a very busy summer at Anfield. Unfortunately, the star midfielder who was picked up Southampton suffered a lateral collateral ligament knock during training.
“Of course it was very disappointing – it’s probably going to be four to six weeks,” Rodgers said at a press conference from Soldier Field in Chicago.
“He has looked fantastic in training; it was just a very simple exercise with no pressure. The medical team are looking closely at that at the moment.
“We’re hopeful that he’ll come back fairly quickly, but there’s no rush. He’s a fantastic player, we just need to get him back fit and well because it’s a long season.”
Here’s the full audio of the press conference today. Adam Lallana was the first topic brought up in Q&A. It’s pretty clear that he won’t be rushed back. He’ll miss the opener versus his former team. Best case scenario he’s in action for the second fixture versus Manchester City. But he could miss the third fixture versus Tottenham Hotspur.
Adam Lallana will almost certainly be back for Aston Villa on September 13th.
